Half day class Saturday 30^th March 1.30 pm to 5.0 pm     

CREATING A LEATHER ROSE WITH GALINA KOFOD

Participants will go through all the stages of the process of creating a rose from the leather. This will include the preparation of materials, making patterns, dying materials, assembling and finishing techniques. During this class students will learn in detail how to make a beautiful realistic looking rose from leather.
In addition, students will learn how to work with a wide range of Japanese style flower making tools.  From this class you will acquire the skills to start making leather flowers for yourselves and at the end of class everybody will have a ready to wear a leather rose.

The Tutor will provide flower making tools for the workshop.

Soldering iron (30-40 W)

the Trade Flame Brand soldering iron (can be bought at Bunnings) is ideal for working with this type of flower making irons. The switch allows you to swap between 30W and 60W. Cost about $26 from Bunnings

pen, scissors to cut leather,

disposable small paint brush,

2 pieces of cotton material bed sheet thickness. (30cm min);

piece of soft foam-rubber for making leather flowers (15 cm min);

strong quick-drying clear glue (not PVA glue)

20-30 sheets of white paper

the correct screwdriver for your soldering iron to change your tools;

plate to put hot tools on;

Optional but recommended:

Florist wire (N26-32), Awl, flower making millinery tools for soldering iron,

Wire cutters, hair dryer, Aluminium Kitchen Foil (piece length at least 12 inches (30 cm);

Extra flower kits are available from the tutor from $30.00

The students can buy the set of brass flower-making tools from Tutor and PVA stiffener.

The price of set ranges between $140-250 depend on number of irons in the set. The price of PVA stiffener powder is $8.00 per 100g. From this amount you can make 1.5 Litre of stiffener.

CREATING LEATHER FLOWERS OF YOUR OWN CHOICE

Participants will go through all the stages of the process of creating a flower of their choice from the leather. This will include the preparation of materials, making patterns, dying materials, assembling and finishing techniques. During the class , students will learn in detail how to make beautiful a realistic looking flower of their choice  from leather. In addition students will learn how to work with a wide range of Japanese style flower making tools. From this class you will acquire the skills to start making leather flowers for yourselves. Depending on their progress students will make 1-2 different leather flowers of their choice in this class.
